hati melayu??

after finishing my high school, i was seriously sad to leave school. just imagine, i too part in sooo many things and i've never ever intend to forget any of 'em. but now, i'll just blab about one portion - of me ge'ing involved in traditional musics.

don't know why, not sure how, i started to be stucked with traditional musics. no matter what sorts of musics others tried to feed me, only traditional ones lasted longer. and i realized it, as i'm always looking for any clubs or company or watever u name it... who deal with traditional activities. Kelab Kesenian Taman Budaya Melaka pon mandom.. cmne ni??

Frankly speaking, it was hard to find one in malaysia. Fortunately, when i came to UK, i found Nusantara, a company doing malay traditional performance around UK and Europe. That's definitely what i'm waiting for! And i got such a big experience, unforgetable one...

25 Nov 2008, the most awaiting date since i came ere.. the performance day aka jalan2 UK day aka lari dr nottingham! I was told to leave at 5.30am but i woke up at 5.10am!!! (Well, i slept late that nite, sortin' out my dress for performance).. i took my 'cow bath', then get onto the minibus, then off to London!

Started the day with dance performance for Air Asia launching in County Hall. It was really cold. Can't imagine how the dancers, with sleeveless dress, barefoot and no coat at all, dancing to musics... OUTSIDE okey! pergh, luckily i'm not in the danciing team...

Caye tak?? Freezing cold outside... nampak je macho, tapi...

That event was soo cool. i met so many people from malaysian high comissioner. we talked and changed contact numbers (not really.. they give me their contact numbers, not me giving 'em mine..huhu).. bgus laa, tv least menambahkan kenalan from MHC, mane tau nak mintak tolong ape2 ke kan?? hehehe...

Then, done with the dance performance for AirAsia, we went off (forgot to mention, we got 2 goody bags with t-shirt, bag lock and red AirAsia cap... cool!). Wished to get free tix to msia... hehe :P

We went straight to Royal Garden Hotel for the Gamelan Concert.. we passed Talfagar, ROYAL ALBERT HALL (tempat kak Siti nyanyi!!!), The Ritz (kalo x silaplaa... milik bf Princess Diana). So sad, we didn't have much time for jalan2 coz auntie told us to rest and get ready for performance that nite. huh, wat to do...

Frankly, i never had any idea of who the audience that nite. Really shocked.. when we, the gamelan team, went into the hall to get ready, we waited for audience to come in, there were all so in protocol i wud say.. so elegant, classy.. wat ever the words for the rich persons. the ladies were all beautiful despite their increasing age.. well, u know it at a glimpse of wat they wore - very expensive materials covering their bodies (i think)... I normally see the gagagoo ones in nottingham, but rarely found these kind of posh people..

Looking at the audience, my hands got really cold. i began to feel soo nervous.. i've never experience performing in front of such big people (plus this was my FIRST performance ABROAD)... they were really respectful. they listened to every second of the performance. they gave full attention to the gamelan music and singing for the whole 1 hour without making noise, or talking to each other or being rude... there were nothing but only silence and the gamelan music! even u can hear ur own kasut bergesel tau... pergh!! salute la sama orang2 cni... even back in my country, we hardly see such venerating people.

Performance went on and on smoothly for 1 hour...evrything went fine and perfect... i did my singing well i think coz i did no mistake as i always did in rehearsal... bravo wani!!! hehe...

We got chance to tal to couple of persons after the performance. They said:

"Fantastic."

"Great performance. You al have such a big talent!"

"Perfect."

"Thanks so much for the beautiful musics. I would be more lovely if i can see real malaysians playing insruments on stage."

haha.. yeah true!! i wish i can get msians to play the instruments.. u know, caucasians don't play those traditional instruments as gentle as malay people do.. ( i can say this from my experience playing caklempong in STJ)... i wish next ime auntie can get more malay people to play caklempong.

Gamelan team.. sorry, could'nt get the pic of real performance.. this is during rehearsal, just before the performance
